Turn Story Time into SEL Time: Introducing the Good Little Souls Story Explorer!

We're so excited to announce our newest free resource for parents and educators: the Good Little Souls Story Explorer! This interactive tool is designed to help you turn read-aloud sessions into meaningful conversations about Social-Emotional Learning (SEL). Now, you can easily dive deeper into the emotional lessons of each of our stories, fostering a child's empathy, courage, and self-awareness.

What is the Story Explorer?

The Story Explorer is a simple, web-based tool that provides targeted discussion prompts for each of the stories in our book. Instead of just asking, "Did you like the story?", you'll get specific questions like, "How did Dottie feel when people wanted to get rid of the dandelions?" or "What did Eugene learn about true friendship from Elias?"

It’s the perfect companion for your read-alouds at home or in the classroom, guiding you to connect character emotions and plot points directly to a child's own life and feelings.

How to Use the Story Explorer in 3 Simple Steps

Using this tool is quick, easy, and designed to fit right into your story time routine!

  1. Read the Story: Before you begin, read the chosen Good Little Souls story from your book, or from our free online collection.

  2. Open the Explorer: On your phone, tablet, or computer, navigate to our new tool at: https://sites.google.com/view/booksforlittlesouls/learning-games/story-explorer

  3. Choose a Story & Discuss: Select the story title from the dropdown menu. You'll see a series of questions appear on the screen. Use these as prompts to talk with the children about the characters' emotions, their decisions, and the lessons learned.

It's a great way to make emotional learning a natural and engaging part of your time together.
